The Sumba Stone #28 - S
Statue #28 (size S) of our Sumba Stone collection. These simple stone statues are from the Island of Sumba Indonesia and are hand carved from sandstone by local artisans. In the traditional villages of Sumba, statues like these are placed inside and around the entrance of the hut providing protection and healing to the occupants inside.
They make a beautiful statement by themselves or look great in a cluster to create real impact.
Each statue is unique.
No two statues exactly the same.
Sandstone, Seagrass , Shell
Sandstone is a rock and ranges in different colors. It is a soft and porous material and that is why care and maintenance are so important. Sandstone is naturally very rough but often has a glossy finish that makes scratches and blemishes less visible.
Sandstone has rough pores that allow dirt to penetrate the surface easily. Sandstone can be cleaned with warm water and liquid stone soap. This soap cleans the surface but also deep cleans the pores of the stone. This reduces the amount of dirt and dust that gets into the stone.
Keep in mind that using harsh chemical to clean sandstone can damage the surface.
