Ecology and sustainability, the core of our business
We commit ourselves to encourage a sustainable way of living by choosing only sustainably and ethically sourced, natural materials, that are recycled, recyclable and eco-friendly. Some of the natural fibers we use for the production of our designs include seagrass, water hyacinth, grass, rattan, bamboo, cotton, shells and wood.
We opt for materials that have a minimal impact on the environment and create little or no waste. Therefore we do not use chemicals or toxins during the processing and treatment of our products.
We source from local producers in Indonesia that operate a fair deal for their workers and employees. They are not only committed to paying fair wages to artisans and producers, but are also committed to providing a safe, healthy working environment that is free of harassment, discrimination, and forced labor.
Our products are handmade by our local artisans in Indonesia using indigenous techniques that have been passed down through generations. We support cottage industry which allows the artisans to work from home and look after their children while providing an income for the family. This has created a flourishing economy, leaving family values and cultural practices intact in the wonderful world of cottage industry. That’s beautiful!
We stimulate our manufacturers to keep exploring new possibilities to use and re-use natural fibers in an environmentally way.
Bali is trying to cope with its plastic problem. The Indonesian government aims to reduce plastic marine waste by 2025. The Balinese Government is doing large efforts to ban plastic bags, polystyrene and plastic straws. We aim to reduce the plastic marine waste by re-using plastic that is recycled from Bali’s beaches. We use recycled plastic in products like carpets, baskets and other home accessories.
We use sustainable packaging methods from renewable resources to create little waste.
Our filling material is 100% natural and recyclable, made from vegetable starch, which offers the best protection for your products. The fiber pallets are pressed from waste wood. The green stretch and bubble wrap we use are 80% recyclable.
It is our responsibility to make conscious choices when selecting materials and production methods to minimize the damage we cause to our environment.
A healthy ecology is the basis for a healthy economy.
